Disco Sucks returns for its 4th birthday party at SVA on Saturday Feb 2. Born under the sign of Aquarius in 2008, it has grown into one of Stroud's most popular nights, spawning festival appearances and a sister night in Shoreditch.
Underground disco shenanigans in the main room with Disco Sucks residents and Black Box sound system, while upstairs there is a louche cava bar serving up balearic sounds for a more refined clientele.
Here's why the night is called Disco Sucks: 30 years ago a bunch of rednecks, incited by two meathead radio DJs, burned thousand of disco records in a packed Comiskey Park baseball stadium and declared it the end of disco era. They called this event 'Disco Sucks' and thought that afterwards everyone would go back to listening to Garth Brooks and eating raw meat. Thankfully, history has proved them wrong.
