Open Studios 2015 promises to be exciting with lots of artistic collaborations and a big focus on Open Studio hubs in the area. 82 artists will be opening their studios in 43 locations for two weekends on  9th-10th and 16th-17th May. Visitors can pick up an Open Studios Directory and plan ahead. It’s a great way to meet artists, find out more about the ideas behind their work, the techniques they use and also buy art works directly from Open Studios artists too. Stroud Valleys Open Studios is a fantastic way to not only enjoy the beautiful Cotswold countryside but also engage with the amazing variety of art on offer. The Taster Exhibition in the Sub Rooms provides the perfect opportunity for planning your visits to the studios, workshops or homes of the artists to see.

“We are really pleased to be promoting artists collectives and group studios as Open Studio hubs where artists are collectively working together in industrial mill buildings, warehouses or artist homes. For example there are three Open Studio hubs in former mill buildings in Chalford, in particular St.Marys Mill, which we think will provide a fascinating experience for visitors who interested in history, architecture as well as art. SVA, based in John Street in Stroud Town Centre is one of the main Open Studio hub sites where you can visit over 20 artists under one roof.”

Jo Leahy, SVA co.director

“ For the last nineteen years Stroud Valleys Artspace working from John Street has made it possible for the public to visit many artists in Stroud and the Valleys. You may see all kinds of visual art – sculpture, paintings, drawings and ceramics - and there will be much that is interesting, innovative and first rate. Travel around and enjoy the fun and excitement of finding us and being welcomed into our homes, studios and places of work with each artist offering their own particular interpretations of how they see and feel about the world. We will have the chance to share time with you and, as a painter this opportunity has been, I believe, rewarding for artists and visitors”

Wendy Morgan, Painter and Open Studios artist
